Why is it that the things we know - we forget (well, I do!) The number of times I think "I know that" but somehow I've forgotten it or haven't acted upon or... well, you know!

So it's good to get a reminder and a few ideas about ways that can be done - it helps to broaden out the thinking.

I know I've given information in articles, my blogs etc that do show who I am e.g. I talk about having worked with people all my live in 'caring' professions and also that honesty and integrity are paramount, and while those things I believe are helpful, they're very different from talking about my life, where I live (in France) mychildren/grandchildren, my activities etc.

Thanks for the heads-up!

I couldn't agree more. People buy from people they know and trust. What better way to get the trust of people you don't personally meet than to tell them about yourself and what you like and what you love so they get to know what makes you tick. Only in this way will you get them to spend their money with you. Great post.

Thank you SO much for this KEY reminder.
I am taking my coaching business to the next level and have found myself struggling to grow my list. Your suggestion confirms the component I have been leaving out the whole time... ME.
You are right, there are lots of relationship coachs out there but, there is nobody like Me. So, from now on my focus is more of building relationships... I like this approach anyway.

You are so right Terry. I think its very important to connect to others as a person and not as a owner of a brand . Also in our business of Event Planning it is the persona and the trust factor that really works the wonder. And I think we in our company are true examples of what you have conveyed above.

Hi Terry,
I smiled when I saw your video about bringing a piece of your personality/life to your customers/clients.
This is how I wrote the content on my first ever website which is why it's unique!
All about our own German Shepherd Dogs which we've owned over many years.
No fear of duplicate content for us.
You said your most responsive blog post was when you lost your dog last year.
That was giving a bit of you to your subscribers - sharing your loss.
Guess that proves your point then doesn't it?
regards
Graham in UK

P.S. I hope your new dog is doing OK

Hi Terry,

Thanks for the tip.

Now that I've watched your video I need to put in more work to tell my audience more about myself so that they get to know me.

By letting them get to know me better as a person, you're right - it's going to create a bond between us and should help sell more of my products .

Best!
Welly Mulia

Terry,

That makes a lot of sense and I will try to add more of myself and my life in my articles and emails I send to my list.

I am starting to get some good ideas in my head.

Thanks,

Tal

I really like your last statement:
"You will attract the right kind of people for your business".
So in order to attract them, it sounds like you are saying we need to let others know who we are so they can begin to build a relationship with us.

Phyllis: I agree. Think about sitting at a business lunch and discussing your daily life. That means we don't want to hear EVERYTHING, but we do want to get to know you a little.
