I really enjoyed the article and I agree with everything you say to a point. I strongly believe that if you have a passion for a topic, say art, even though you are not an artist, doesn’t mean you can’t make money in that area. Passion is a must for whatever business topic you get involved in otherwise the enterprise will just wither away from lack of interest. Surround yourself with those folks who can fill in the holes of your knowledge and go forward!
I do believe that the references you gave are great starting points for anyone.

The ‘filth filter’ on my work computer had a problem with this page because it included the word “passion”. How sad is that?

Terry- I think you and the follow up comments hit it on the head. You do what you like out source the rest and seek balance in family,business,and spirit. To farm out doing the lawn for a few bucks and then put that time to use with the family. To work on the business and not always in it.
By the way Terry it seems you like to write. Any new books coming out in the future?I also would like you views on the use of video and if you feel it’s worth the time?

Hi Terry,

When you passion and profits together it cna be a potent mix.

But for anyone just starting out, especially on a tight budget, you’ll find you’ll be doing a lot of “jobs” that are jsut downright BORING.

Don’t let this sap your enthusiasm for what you’re doing. In fact I believe that when you are just starting out in your online business you are at somewhat of an advantage.

If you’re thinking about what you’re doing from the very beginning as a real business, as you teach here on this blog and in your products (I have IRLS… thanks it has really helped my business), then you’ll be creating systems to do all the jobs that you don’t want to do.

If you’re starting out then this is great because you don’t have to think about those jobs as you’re doing everything for the first time.

Do it once, see if it works, if so systemize it then give it to someone else to do.

Terry, spoken like a true master. I only wished more people understood what you’re trying to say in those first 3 paragraphs.

Ron, I think you can make money and do what you love. Terry is saying you can’t just do what you love and expect everything else to happen magically for you. You have to actually delegate, outsource or do some of the unpleasant work yourself.

Excellent post sir. I tell people you can make money or do what you love, but rarely both. That makes people mad because they like the story of the other option.
