The Truth About Traffic

What is the number one traffic generation strategy of many business owners? Sometimes it’s good to not just listen to what people say, but to also keep an eye on what they’re doing to promote their business. Here’s a short video where I talk about this very subject.

I love this quote from the video: “The best day in your business career will be the day you realize you can’t do it all.”

    Well said.

And I also greatly appreciate the point you make at the very beginning. That is, watch what other marketers do, not what they say to do.

This is one key that I’ve applied consistently for the last few years.

It’s been just in the last few months that I have come to understand the benefit of outsourcing. Since I was still formulating my business direction, I didn’t have the need to scope out others to help me. I am now to that point.

What are some of the methods you use to find ‘good’ people, and how can a start up business do that on a restricted budget. Also, what are some of the methods of resourcing good assistants when finances improve? I’m looking for a now and a later plan. Thank you.

    Hi,

I’ve got a slight delay between the audio and the video. Nevertheless, it didn’t spoil the great content of this video. I did put up an affiliate program on my site and I haven’t got any subscriber. Yeah, I know. I have to and get them. Until now, I just promoted it to my customers to try to convert them into buyers with
    no success at all.

Thank You for your information Terry – I really appreciate what you have made available. I too am offering a service as you will see from my website which we are trying to build and replace our income – and I’d love to have you opinion of what you would charge to coach us about how to build our web business and what would be involved.
Anyway my question is what about a system such as ASD http://www.asdpresentation.com/

A friend introduced this to me – it is an Network Marketing system that generates traffic – the only problem is the web stats show clicks on the home page from ASD, not individuals. I’m concerned that google may view this as a prohibited way of getting clicks on our adsense ads – Whats your thoughts about this?

Thanks Again Terry – and Please submit a proposal to me about your services and our website.

    Thank you everyone for comments.

Hi Georgann: That’s a question I’ll have to answer in a post sometime later as it would detail more than what I post in a comment here. A quick answer would be to pick up Timothy Ferris’ book, “The 4 Hour Work Week,” use some of the online sites such as http://www.elance.com, and always start any new worker on a small short-term project to make sure they do good work.

Dave: For coaching you need to contact us directly – see contact info over at http://www.MyOwnWebMentor.com. On the traffic generation system, I’m going to have to say I don’t recommend any of these types of traffic generation. It’s low quality. And while I can’t say for sure without looking into it more, I’d predict it likely would get you in trouble with Adsense also.

    Terry,

I picked up the same thing Ryan said… watch what other marketers do, not what they say to do.

it reminded me of a quote from Deep Throat in movie All The President’s Men… He told Bob Woodward to “Follow the money”. He was telling Woodward to ignore what they were saying & follow their actions.

    Excellent advice as always Terry.

That was a great video Terry!

I really do agree with the idea of creating an affiliate marketing system. I do it with every one of my new products in order to gain more promotion, and make more sales. It’s a really wonderful way to market your products!

Which kind of affiliate program creator do you recommend online business owners to use?

    Great video Terry.
What’s your recommendation for creating affiliate programs in markets that don’t usually have them (ie. doctors for example)?

Also, in my Firefox you your youtube video is really messing up your homepage.

  11. Terry on June 16th, 2008 8:13 am

Matthew: There are a lot of affiliate options. I use http://www.Netofficetoolbox.com (I do get commissions from this). If you have a membership site, http://www.amember.com has one built in. You could even use that cheap $7 report scripts for a low cost digital product (when you want to give 100% commissions). There are a lot of good affiliate software programs.

Michael: You might not set it as a normal affiliate program. You have options such as potentially putting up a free report for lead generation. And then paying affiliates for lead who fill out for the free report. Or you could simply ignore the “affiliate program” altogether and simply find other local business owners and refer one another to your clients as a straight trade. You contact your clients about their service and they do the same. No money changes hands.

As always excellent advice Terry. God bless.

    Terry,

I “found” you again about a year ago and you are still putting out great info. I say that because when I first jumped on the web a decade ago, there were two sites that I would visit to get the straight scoop and yours was one of them. Thanks for the help over the years.

Got something to say?
